ABOUT Dendra Yoga

dendra- derived from “dendron”, the ancient greek word for “tree”, it is my ode to mother nature and its beauty.

Nature has always been a silent yet powerful teacher. She never ceases to amaze me with her beauty and life long lessons of peace, gratitude and empowerment.

The name…

the lone hunter of the americas. This feline was chosen for its power and mystique, and to reflect my latin roots, as well as the practice of yoga itself.

Yoga is a solitary journey of the mind and body.
We celebrate our practice together as a community, but yoga is ultimately a personal path of yoking with the universe from within.

I believe we embody the focus and strength to practice yoga whether it’s part of your spiritual journey or fitness program.

The jaguar…

the teacher…

Born and raised in Western North Carolina, I grew up hiking all over the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains. Naturally, my love for the outdoors, yoga and travel followed suit.

After studying botany and environmental science
(App State baby!), I made my way to Atlanta, GA for a few years until it was time to head out west.

I earned my 200 HR YTT certificate from the Dallas Yoga Center, which opened the doors to a supportive and beautiful community of fellow teachers and students that I am forever grateful for.

Yoga has enriched my life in so many ways! Along with the spiritual growth and self discovery obtained from this practice, it simply feels good to move and take up space.

I have also learned to trust my body again after feeling held back from previous sports injuries.

Outside of class you can find me out in nature, at the gym, or at a music show. or perhaps at home cooking, playing the guitar, and staring at a map of the world wondering where to explore next.

see you on the mat,

-Rachel
